The Milwaukee Brewers have reinstated outfielder Christian Yelich from the 10-day injured list, bringing him back in time for Tuesday’s series opener against the San Diego Padres at American Family Field.
Yelich, 34, missed the past month due to a left groin strain, last playing on April 12 in a loss to the Washington Nationals. Prior to the injury, he was hitting .314 with one home run and 10 RBIs across 12 games.
To make room on the active roster, the Brewers optioned utility player Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville. Black, 25, appeared in nine games for Milwaukee this season and 32 over the past three years, posting a .250 batting average in 98 career plate appearances.
The 2018 National League MVP and three-time All-Star returns without undergoing a minor league rehabilitation assignment.
