A source close to Deborra-lee Furness has shared with New Idea how the actress felt seeing her ex-husband, Hugh Jackman, posing on the red carpet alongside his new girlfriend, Sutton. Notably, the photocall moment had been a cherished tradition for the former couple when they were together.
“Deb was warned that Hugh would appear with Sutton, but still, seeing them there felt like a knife to the heart. This was the ‘big night’ of the year for her. Hugh and Furness used to stand side by side there, just as Sutton and Hugh did now, only four years ago. They were regulars at the Met Gala and it was one of their favorite night outs,” the source began.
“Part of her hoped he would be single again”
“Last year, when it seemed Hugh wanted to bring Sutton, Deb hinted she might attend, but in the end she just couldn’t face it. There were rumors she did it only to block Hugh and Sutton, but that’s not true. She simply had too many painful memories,” the source continued.
“Part of her hoped he would be single again, so it hurts even more that Hugh is so willing to erase their historic nights out with new memories. Deb is getting over what was a deeply painful betrayal, but seeing Sutton smiling on Hugh’s arm stings,” the source concluded, adding it has been a hard blow for the actress.
